Genetic Choir performs at STEIM
On November 6th, join the Genetic Choir and laptop musician Robert van Heumen for a performance at STEIM, as part of their monthly Sessionview series. The choir and van Heumen have been exploring new ways of merging vocal and digital sampling methods within a live musical environment as part of their ongoing Loop-Copy-Mutate project.
Members of the Genetic Choir recently met with experts in the music programming world from STEIM, HKU and the University of Plymouth to discuss how to design a software prototype that emulates the choir’s approach to collective instant composition. This initial investigation will continue throughout 2016 with the aim to develop an app that allows users to directly interact with each other in a digital environment, recording, combining and mutating sounds within a biotope of many voices.
